“Life on the Dickinson Farm” by David Dickinson is apersonal history of the origins of the farm and his many productive years of life as a farmer beginning with his birth in 1927.
The farm acreage is a consolidation of land acquired over the years from previous owners; Vermont Marble Company in 1925; the Walter Dunton farm in 1980; and 50 additional acres of meadow that same year. The original farm had been bought in 1804 for three or four otter skins.
The major focus of the article describes in precise detail the daily life on the farm, its work and its recreation. The text is accompanied by several family photographs providing an intimate and fascinating account.
